The Renault Duster 2026 has made a strong comeback in India with its third-generation model, unveiled on January 26, 2026. This new version revives one of the most iconic SUVs in the Indian market after a gap since 2022.
Known for its rugged appeal, value, and capability, the 2026 Renault Duster builds on that legacy with modern design, advanced technology, multiple powertrain choices, and competitive positioning against rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
Modern Exterior Design
The new Renault Duster adopts a more assertive and contemporary look while keeping its signature rugged character. It features a prominent new signature front grille with chrome accents, sharp LED daytime running lights, and full LED headlights. The rear has connected LED taillights with a light bar for a premium touch.
Ground clearance stands at 212 mm, with approach and departure angles of 26.9° and 34.7°, respectively, making it capable on rough roads and light off-roading. The stance appears wider and more muscular, with shoulder lines that give it a planted presence. It rides on up to 18-inch alloy wheels (all-black in some variants), and higher trims may include a panoramic sunroof for an open-air feel.
The overall dimensions position it well in the segment, with a length around 4346 mm (based on comparisons), offering good road presence without feeling oversized for city use.
Spacious and Tech-Rich Interior
Inside, the 2026 Duster gets a complete overhaul for a more premium experience. It includes a dual-screen setup with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. The system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with built-in Google Assistant for voice commands.
Other highlights include dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad, a powered driver’s seat (6-way in top variants), and an electric tailgate for convenience. The cabin uses better materials and offers a flat-bottom steering wheel for a sporty grip.
Boot space is generous at 518 litres (expandable to 1789 litres with seats folded), making it practical for family trips or weekend getaways. Rear seat space is comfortable for three adults, with good legroom and headroom.
Advanced Safety and Driver Assistance
Safety receives significant upgrades in the 2026 model. It comes with 6 airbags as standard, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
Higher variants feature an ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite with up to 17 features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and more. This makes it one of the more equipped options in terms of active safety tech.
Renault also highlights a 7-year warranty on the new Duster, which adds peace of mind for long-term ownership.
Powerful and Efficient Engine Options
The 2026 Renault Duster offers three petrol-based powertrains, with no diesel option available (discontinued due to emission norms). All are front-wheel-drive for now, though the platform supports AWD if demand grows in the future.
- 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol (TCe 100): A 3-cylinder engine producing around 99-100 bhp and 160 Nm of torque. Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This entry-level option focuses on fuel efficiency and city driving responsiveness.
- 1.3-litre Turbo Petrol (TCe 160): The performance standout, delivering 163 ps (around 161-163 bhp) and 280 Nm of torque, the highest in the segment for non-hybrid models. It comes with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed wet-clutch DCT (dual-clutch transmission) for smooth shifts and quick acceleration.
- 1.8-litre Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160: A series-parallel hybrid system with a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (around 109 hp), a 49 hp electric motor, and a 20 hp starter generator, backed by a 1.4 kWh battery. Total system output is about 160 hp and 172 Nm. It uses an 8-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) and offers up to 80% electric mode driving for better efficiency. This variant arrives later, around Diwali 2026 (November).
The turbo TCe 160 stands out for its strong mid-range punch, ideal for highways and overtakes. The hybrid prioritizes fuel savings and smooth urban commutes.
Expected Pricing and Launch
As of February 2026, the 2026 Renault Duster is in the pre-booking phase (token amount Rs 21,000). Official ex-showroom prices will be announced in mid-March 2026.
Estimates from industry sources and reports place the starting price around Rs 10-12 lakh for the base turbo-petrol variants, with top turbo models reaching Rs 16-18 lakh. The hybrid could go up to Rs 19-22 lakh or slightly higher for fully loaded trims. On-road prices may range from Rs 12-24 lakh depending on location, variant, and features.
Deliveries for the turbo-petrol versions are expected to begin in mid-April 2026, while the hybrid follows in late 2026.
This pricing positions the Duster competitively, especially with its powerful engine, high ground clearance, large boot, and feature list.
